DO YOU ENJOY SLEEPING?

This topic feels relevant when the weekend approaches. It's important for me to have at least one day a week where I can wake up without an alarm clock or a schedule. I can leisurely enjoy a cup of coffee, maybe even a second cup. However, my husband thinks it's a waste of time. He believes that if I sleep until noon, the day is already wasted. But what about going to the market on Saturday? Buying fresh fruits? Efficiency is highly valued!

I understand that it might not be feasible for everyone. Families with young children, for example, have different priorities. No argument there🙂. However, even in such cases, if there's a need for rest, the responsibilities can be shared and fulfilled in turns.

For me, it's not about indulgence; it's about quality relaxation that recharges me for the new week. I'm aware it may not look impressive - sleeping until noon, lounging in pajamas, reading non-educational books, or even indulging in a romantic novel🙂. It might look like I'm slacking off or being lazy🙂. Do I feel guilty? Yes, sometimes, especially when my husband returns from the market with fruits and vegetables, vacuuming around the couch where I'm lying🙂.

By the way, I often hear similar stories from women living in this part of the world🙂. Partners advocate for constant efficiency and a healthy lifestyle. Say NO to fast carbs!

Recently, my husband and I ran 10 kilometers together at an event in December, starting at 10 a.m. in -2 degrees. That meant waking up at 8 a.m. It was an enjoyable experience, and I could clearly see the satisfaction on his face🙂. Now, that's what I call a proper weekend! And afterwards, we can still go to the market. No one cancels that.

Sometimes, a sneaky thought crosses our minds - maybe we should be doing the same?🙂 And we start comparing ourselves to others, blaming and criticizing ourselves. We feel an urgent need to get up and start working. The word "lazybones" from childhood comes to mind🙂.

But what do we actually have to do? We stay in bed and continue to relax🙂. There's a lot of value in such leisure, and it's perfectly okay to allow ourselves to be lazy. Don't worry, when the time comes, we'll gather ourselves and get things done. It's in these moments that new ideas often emerge, and we get a chance to see the situation from a different perspective, digesting everything that has happened recently.
